Overview:

This course empowers clinicians in confidently diagnosing and managing common causes of shoulder pain, including subacromial sensitivity (SAS), shoulder instability, and contracture capsulitis (commonly known as adhesive capsulitis or frozen shoulder).

Through evidence-based lecture videos, downloadable patient handouts, quizzes, and exercise demonstrations, clinicians will develop practical strategies rooted in current research and pain science perspectives.

The course will include several therapeutic exercise options based on the best available evidence. I have also included a video about "The Best Shoulder Exercise" (in my opinion) and why it is so valuable.

Listen To What Bahram Has To Say About 'Adhesive Capsulitis' & 'Frozen Shoulder':

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Define subacromial sensitivity (SAS), differentiate it from traditional “impingement” models, and explain its relevance to shoulder pain outcomes.

  • Administer and interpret at least three validated diagnostic tests for SAS.

  • Select appropriate subjective and objective outcome measures, including motion tests, resisted testing, and special shoulder assessments.

  • Apply repeated movement strategies and identify a patient’s directional/functional preference within minutes of evaluation.

  • Demonstrate the “best shoulder exercise”—including coraco-acromial ligament stretching, lateral rotation strengthening, and scapular upward rotation facilitation.

  • Explain the role of thoracic spine mobility and regional interdependence in shoulder function.

  • Differentiate adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), including its stages, risk factors, and effective management approaches.

  • Avoid common clinical pitfalls, including the two “big don’ts” that may provoke or prolong shoulder pain.

  • Recognize indicators of central sensitization, and adjust interventions accordingly.

These objectives are designed to deliver actionable clinical skills—not just theoretical knowledge

Audience

This online course is ideal for physiotherapists, chiropractors, occupational therapists, exercise therapists, pain educators, and other healthcare professionals committed to evidence-informed, patient-centered musculoskeletal care. It’s especially valuable for those aiming to evolve their approach from diagnosis-driven interventions toward movement-based rehabilitation and functional restoration.

Closing Thoughts:

I have no doubt that you and your patients will benefit from the information provided in this course, so I urge you to at least complete the first lesson of this course (available for free) and see if you like what I am saying.

Sincerely, Bahram Jam, PT
